What are functional mushrooms?
Functional mushrooms are cultivated and processed for their naturally occurring bioactive compounds, including beta-glucans, triterpenes, and antioxidants. These compounds are associated with a range of reported wellness benefits and make mushrooms valuable ingredients in food, beverage, and nutraceutical formulations.
What makes your extraction process different?
Our proprietary extraction and fermentation process is designed to reduce the natural bitterness in functional mushrooms and support a clean, neutral taste profile. With improved dispersibility and solubility, our extracts deliver smoother texture and more consistent performance, especially in challenging formats like gummies and ready-to-drink beverages.
What are high vitamin D mushrooms?
High vitamin D mushrooms are created by exposing Agaricus bisporus mushrooms to UV light, which naturally increases their vitamin D content. The result is a clean, plant-based source of vitamin D suitable for vegetarian and vegan formulations.
How do your potency levels compare to other suppliers?
Our potency advantage comes from vertically integrated cultivation, full-spectrum use of fruiting body and mycelium, and a proprietary extraction plus fermentation process. Every batch is verified through third-party testing for active compound levels. Our extracts can deliver up to five times more active compounds than standard alternatives.
Are your mushrooms organic and what certifications do you have?
Yes. All Monterey Nutra ingredients are made from U.S.-grown, certified organic mushrooms cultivated on our California farms.

Where do you source your mushrooms?
We grow them ourselves. Every ingredient begins at our California farms, where cultivators and scientists oversee each stage, from strain development to harvest and extraction. Our vertically integrated model supports traceability, consistency, and reliable performance.
What substrates do you use?
We only use U.S.-sourced substrate materials. White and Brown mushrooms are grown on regionally sourced compost, including racehorse bedding, straw, and nitrogen sources. Specialty mushrooms are grown on organic sorghum from family farms or hardwood sawdust byproducts diverted from landfills.
Does Monterey Nutra have a minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
No, Monterey Nutra does not have an MOQ. We do however have a fee for orders under 10kg. Our standard packages are 20kg, and we offer smaller sizes such as 1kg and 5kg pouches.
